I have just been looking through your thread again as i'm at a bit of a desicision stage with my front end. Keep the full metal flip, get a fibreglass one or revert back to standard.
How much would you charge for brace bars mate? as i'm not sure about the ones I have?
Cheers

£85 for brace bars. They are very strong. I can get more pictures now they are fitted?
I only went for the fibreglass flip front as it was easy and it won't rust! My main aim is to have it back on the road quickly although work seems to be getting in the way at the moment!
Thanks!

Thanks minidino, if you're ever over Ipswich town way give me a PM and drop in. Be good to meet a local mini!
Okay as many of you know, you can do loads of work at this stage but it end out looking like you've done nothing! Although work has been majorly busy (not complaining) I have still managed to squeeze in some more hours on the mini.
Quick picture to get you all up to date.
After spending so many hours on the front end I started to look at the rear and get that built up. I decided that the front end is now more electrical and a bit of paint which doesn't take that long and before I could paint the front end I needed to get the rear in shape. I had a carbon/kevlar boot lid left over from when I built the mini first time round so started to fit it..
Problem was I couldn't achieve the fit I wanted without using top pins and I really only want to use the standard central lock. This meant I had to either buy a double skin GRP lid or go with the standard metal lid. As this is being built on a budget I was forced to go for the standard metal lid.
Shortly after this my order from MiniSpares arrived with bolts and a few other bits I needed. The windscreen mechanisms where they pass through the scuttle were completely corroded. These were replaced.
Now I had the top engine steady in place I could get the exhaust manifold and exhaust system fitted.
I have fitted a large bore maniflow system LCB with a large bore side exit pipe - All purchased from MiniSpares.
This pictures shows where the two exits meet the 'Y' piece on the manifold.
And again this picture is showing where the back box meets the pipe - Image looking from back to front to car. (Bad pic but might help someone out..)
At this point the weather had turned a bit and we had a boat in the paint shop. When there was a break in the weather I managed to get some paint on the roll cage. I was desperate to get this done as it was taking up space in the workshop and get bashed around.
The cage wasn't too bad to fit (This is the same TT Lyle cage I had to begin with) if anyone wants more info on cage fitting please just ask!
I had already reinforced the mounting point prior to painting and had pre drilled holes from previous fitment.
I am pleased with the finish although it wasn't what I had expected. The paint is infact a gloss although I didn't have enough to get the desired finish. Still, I am happy with the matte finish.
Just a couple of pictures for the record. I can't remember what progress was made at the front end since my last post but I'm sure something has happened!
As I left it today I had a Merc bonnet to paint, the boot lid and the doors.
Thank you for all your replies.

Hello,
Been getting on with it a bit now..
Once I had got rid of the merc job at work I could then paint my panels ![]()
Only problem I found with not painting everything at once was that I now have everso slightly different finishes. Having said this, I will be able to cut and polish back to achieve an overall to match the main body.
I then left the panels for a weekend to go hard before building and trimming them.
In the end I painted the inside of the boot lid Matte Black as I will be trimming the boot out anyway..
A quick front end/engine update too.
Its building up slowly after the order arrived from MiniSpares. I have now fitted the interior heater and have started piping the water system in. A few more linkages and cables and we should be near to firing her up!
Thanks,

Thanks.
Picked up some more glass and a tacho yesterday. Still looking for a windscreen..
Hopefully once payday comes I can get someone over to fit the windows.
Not sure yet if tacho will work as I've recently fitted electronic ignition. Anyone else using a Smiths RVI 1000/00A tacho with electronic ignition??
Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully be starting on a dash of some sort soon.

Major delay on update..
So all the windows have been fitted. I fitted them myself last time but this time I got someone who actually knows what they're doing to do it!
Back end now looks like this..
And I had a few bits of carbon laying around so made up a gear gaitor..
Also quickly fitted the carbon scratch protectors..
In other news the electrics are coming on well (I'm not doing this!) and hopefully wont be far off running it up!
Will have a much better update soon. Work has been manic!
Thanks,
Bloomers
