Hi guys, need some urgent advise... car has been parked up now for flipping months, had a mare of a day... just picked up 3rd battery of the day!!

and it started... and shredded the drive belt... now to the question... i have to get this car to a mechanic tomorrow to do soem body and suspension work...

Can i drive it without the drivebelt??? its probably a 30 minute drive... and from what i can make out.. the drive belt runs the water pump... now as far as i am concerned... no water pump, no water... no water = engine bang!!!

i am 100% thinking that its not driveable until the belt is replaced... but need the advise and help of soemeone who does no what there doing!!!

no - do not  drive

check the water pump pulley moves smoothly & the alternator the same

check pulley's are in line with each other

belts usually  slip / squeal - unless it was old - but you usually get a warning before snapping / shredding

I would hope a mini fan belt is still easy to get

best of  luck

You could probably manage 3 or 4 miles with no belt if you took it steady. Any garage ought to be up to fitting a fan belt. even Halfords. Though you could do it yourself in half an hour with just 2 or 3 spanners.
