I'm looking to buy a Paceman (All4 automatic) this summer and I'm torn between the S and SD. Can someone who has drove these two variants, be it Paceman or Countryman, tell me pls if the 40 horse power difference is very noticeable? Is the fuel consumption on the S that much worse than that of the SD (real life numbers I mean, we all know that what they say on the site is *******).

This isnt only a classic forum so thats not really relevant...

You might get better response on the MINI2 forum which is mainly modern minis, personally if it was me I would be going for the  S as diesel cars dont tend to make better financial sense for a couple of years as the cost is more to buy and more money to fill a tank, oh and I would prefer the manual as well, the S is fairly sporty so a manual would make the most sense :)

Quite often they are jumped on by relatively new members who haven't read the rules that state this forum is for all Minis (as it says right under the title) and tell the posters to go elsewhere.  People who just assume they know what this forum is.  Who despite being asked to stop this keep on doing it.  So the threads just end.  Many of our members have both types of Mini and the forum has always been intended for everyone.

I couldn't agree more. This is my number one (and to be fair, probably my only) TMF hate. TMF doesn't have the best of reputations, which is a shame as it is a great forum with many very knowledgable members (knowledgeable about both Mini and MINI) and I feel that the way new members who ask MINI questions are sometimes responded to does damage TMF's reputation.

Sorry, I can't help on the question. Anyhow Bubu91 welcome to TMF and hopefully someone might be able to offer an opinion, if you haven't decided that you've had enough of us!

Some MINI Paceman owners and their feedback have started to appear on the TotalMINI forum linked below.......there are also a couple of MINI Countryman owners here on TMF who may be able to help you later. Let us know which one you choose and post us some pics here when you get it !

It depends on how you like a vehicle to drive. The petrol S is quite rewarding, especially when in sport mode.

The diesel is an awesome piece of kit. But.... at the end of the day it has a BMW lump in it and is just as boring on the

power delivery as any other diesel. Great for mpg but sounds ******* compared to an S. Plus it doesn't pop on over run either....
