Rollover Jig With Engine In Place?

I'm pondering some sort of rollover jig that would just tip the car safely onto it's side. 

 

I've had a bit of a search but nothing seems to fit the bill. I remember seeing ones that have a radius that enabled the car to roll onto it's side.. 

 

In which case would it support the weight of the engine too? (fluids drained obviously)

  I wouldn't do that with a Mini.  The engine mounts would fail very quickly I imagine, the load on the one that ended up at the top would be enormous.

If you wanted to do it you could ratchet strap the engine down hard to the subframe and then just change the mounts after you've finished....

Frost do a whole range that tilt from a few degrees to right over, some have bespoke mounts, some mount to the hubs. They are über expensive though compared to the spit type. And I would also be concerned about the engine mounts as suggested above unless you are only tipping it a few degrees.

I'd be concerned about all sorts, twisting the shell, engine mounts, how stable it would be, getting onto the jig!

Interesting, because it was common practice for the works rally support teams to roll a car onto it's side for quick servicing.  Why should the engine mounts be a problem now?

Good point, but did they use rubber or solid mounts I wonder? There are people on here who know the works car specs inside out so I am sure one of them could confirm one way or another. When I had my first mini it was common practice just to get a few mates and roll whatever car you needed bits off in our local scrappy (Albert Looms in Spondon), but we weren't overly concerned about the state of the car afterwards!

If you can twist the shell by putting it on to a simple jig like that.....it's time to avoid raised manhole covers.
