From Nov 2012 Birmingham Post........did this van ever sell on ebay?

A unique slice of Longbridge history is up for sale for £42,000 – a 44-year-old Austin Mini van with just 302 miles on the clock.

The timewarp vehicle, which has not been on the road since 1968, has already attracted around 30,000 viewers on eBay and a bidding frenzy is expected.

The classic van is an original Austin Mini dating back to 1968, the year the British Motor Corporation merged with Leyland Motor Corporation in a move which led to the British Leyland era of Sir Michael Edwardes and Red Robbo.

The vehicle has been unused for over 40 years and still has its original gearstick, floor-button starter, Dunlop tyres and Lucas battery from 1968. It was originally bought by a woman learner driver in Northern Ireland who lost confidence in driving before taking her test and kept it in storage for 10 years.

On her death it was bought by a collector who again kept it in storage for over 30 years before it was bought by current owner, motor trader John Biddle, of Northamptonshire.

One of the wipers is missing. You can't pay 42K for an incomplete car!

MOT failure right there!  That reduces the value.  :D
