Hi

I've just purchased a set of three clock dials to upgrade from the the 2 currently in my mini. They've come from a mini gt. Will they still work with my equinox and if so what will i need to do to connect them? Willl they plug straight in? or will i have to wire the tacho in? if so where would i start?

I would pull my dash off and have a look at what wiring is available, but my mini is still in the garage in kent and I was just looking for some advise for when i get her back and fit them.

I'm guessing a bit here, but certianly my '88 had the wiring in place, so I would "assume" that yours would too.

But Roo's Mini is injection..

I think the gt clocks are smiths and the injection minis clocks a nippon/nixon something like that anyway. manufactor names arent the point the point is that the 2 are not interchangable

Apart from the wiring issues, you will also have to change the speedo cable, and probably the pinion drive in the gearbox to get the speedo to read correctly.

So if i can't use these dials how will i be able to get a tacho installed? buy one seperatly? if so what do you recommend? or look for a set of dials on ebay for an injection type mini?

get a set of dials from a sportpack mini..

Ive heard that the tacho on the MPI reads differently due to the ignition system being wasted spark. Dont know if its true but there is a possability.

Best bet is to find a Nippon set up to 1996

Oh and when you get the Nippon 3 clock set you can swap over your original speedo/oddometer and keep the milege correct

Roo, if they are the the smiths 3 clocks I might have them off you so I can replace my rev counter thats stoped working.

I ahve a set of later type 3 clocks... only thing is the Rev counter has come away from the plastic backing...

If u need them, you can have them if ur going to Bristol Mini day!

The clocks would be great Dogmatix but i'm unable to go to bristol mini day due to having to work. I will be going to dragwars. not sure if i'm going to any shows before then. i will be extremly lucky if i go to l2B as my mini is still a wreck from the accident in feb.
