I think the T2, I reckon the GT15 will be a bit small,

the t25's can be good but it depends what version, some are too big, plus if its poorly I'd give it a miss.

The T25 came from my t16 coupe. It smoked a lot soon after it was de catted and at some point it must have run with no filter as the compressor blades look shot blasted. What sort of boost figures should I see from a T2 and what sort of rpm do they tend to be on full song?

hmmm, T16 one is probably a bit big, if the blades look like that its not realy worth reconning,

I think a T2 on a decent engine will make 160-180 hp at about 18-20psi,  it should make boost by about 2k, maybe as low as 1500, a pretty good choice for a road car.

I had chance to drive a fiesta with the eco boost engine in it yesterday, its only a 1ltr 3 cylinder. But my god It pulls like a train! It had boost from 1500 and was on full boost by 2200 all the way to red line. Do the A series boxes take that much torque once you've got a bit of boost? I think my engine is either 8.5:1 or possibley 9:1 cr but has got an MG Metro cam in it.

the A series box is ok but not great,

the diff is the weakest point, basically you want to change that for a crosspin one at about 100hp/100ft/lb as they tend to fire the dif pin through the side, after that at around 140hp you need to think about changing to a straight cut gearkit, the drops seem pretty durable as long as you use the MPI ones, 200+ hp have been put through them.

once you get past about 250 hp you start to get into the territory of pullng the teeth off the straight cut gearkits, but the quaife and MED dog box's should last as they have wider teeth.

Woah. So best to stick to 140bhp with a x pin diff. Im amazed these little engines can churn out that much power! 250hP on a standard gear casing! so what sort of psi should I aim for? 15?

yep 15 is a good target for somthing quick but reliable, MG cam will be well suited, 9:1 might be a bit high unless youve got a big intercooler and good fuel, 8.5:1 will be fine though.

according to the haynes bible, my CR should be 8.8:1. so should be acceptable, do i need to bother with sodium filled valves and guides or just wing it till it complains? is there possibility to have too big an intercooler also. would that induce lag?

saw a nice intercooler on a volvo 940 turbo

most people ditch the sodium valves for std stainless race valves,

go for the biggest intercoller that is practical, the incrase in lag will be negligable.
