hi my mini has the really early 5 spring type clutch, I am changing this to a pre verto type clutch. I was under the impression I would need to change the bell housing and bell housing cover however having got a pre verto bell housing they don't look much different.

Can someone help, I am now planning on changing the flywheel, clutch plate, clutch kit and clutch arm ( to a long type). I don't really want to change the bell housing if it is unnecessary as it is all repainted and ready to assemble.

Yes, no need for a different clutch cover or transfer case.

It will not be possible to pull the lever by hand.

To pre-check operation measure the linear travel at the top of the clutch arm. It must be a minimum of 0.5". The plunger at the bottom must move enough to depress the diaphragm which is about 0.15" (from memory).

1965 is very late for a coil spring clutch as it was phased out in April 1964. Didn't they all have 6 springs?
