Just fitted the new rear brake cable supplied by minispares and have had abit of a problem securing the spring retaining cap into the keyhole slot on the bracket on the rear of the drum plate.
The springs on the new cable kept flying out when i applied the handbrake and i eventually realised what the problem was, on closer inspection of the old cable the cap ontop of the spring has a slight raised nipple on top which locates into the hole in the keyhole slot on the plate holding the spring in place.
The new caps above the springs have no nipple ontop so there is nothing to keep the springs in place when they are under tension, the only way i could fix them in position was to bend the edges of the keyhole slots back towards the caps thus securing them.
Has anybody encountered similar probs or have i been sent a dud cable. Maybe Simon can shed some light on the matter.
