we have the belts donated from our 91 Cooper and I was hoping for a quick bolt in job done... As ever, not quite so simple. we have the holes in the pillars and the holes in the seat pan for the clip part but thats it, no nuts in place and not sure on the 3rd mounting hole even being there.
can anyone advise what corse of action to take to fit the belts such as strengthening needed etc or can it just be bolted up and so on, happy to take on mosts jobs even welding etc but not even sure where to start.
need to sort it to keep the kids safe.
Thanks in advance

are you sure you have the holes with mounts? I retrofitted seat belts to my 79 and there were holes in the seat pan but that's it. The holes did not have any reinforcement or mount behind and there was nothing on the pillar. I used the kit from somerford mini to fit them.

there are definitely holes in the seat pans as I removed the rubber bungs myself. no reinforcement or fixings though. On the rear pillars there is a small rectangle plate that sits off the inside of the body panel and it has a hole but again no mounting. as I said im not sure where the 3rd hole is so that might need drilling and what not.
thanks for the info. really appreciate it. got to make sure the kids are safe, they always want to go out in Hatty!

is the hole in the rear pillar on right behind the screws the hold the back window? If so that's not the seat belt mount. If you order the kit on sommerford you will see what I mean. You will need the do a bit if trimming round the bracket to fit the mount so it fits nice and flat against the pillar. Fairly easy though. The mounts are well made and for me at least fitted the car perfectly.
On the seat backrest there should be two holes close together in the middle for the buckles and then each the side right next to the wheel arch (when looking in to the boot.) the kit has all the rquired mounts for static belts and they do fit very nice and are easy to to if you have access to a welder.
