I want to change the choke cable on my 89' Mini Thirty. I believe it's carbs are HS4?
I want to replace the original pull/push choke, for a pull & twist choke, as I find the pull/push springs back in & with pull & twist choke, you can have as little or as much choke as you like. How do I disconnect the choke from the carb? How do I connect the new choke to carb, so as it's set properly?

It should be connected with a bolt where the wire is, it then just needs to be fitted the same way you took it out. The choke originally should be a twist choke (I think).

Also the push unit uses a different shape switch panel and bracket(the one to lower dash from switch panel). Pull twist is round and push is square.

The original choke for 89' Mini is pull/push. 4-5 notches. My 83' Metro has pull & twist.

True then the hole and bracket is different. I have both cables and switch panels.

Yes you will need a new switch panel and bracket to fit a twist lock choke cable securely.

The ratchet choke cable only pulls itself back in when its worn out, from new it works well.  It's just a bit less analogue than an infinitely adjustable one obviously.

UK spec never included a choke warning lamp.

I don't have a choke warning light on my Thirty, but do on the Metro. I will source a second hand switch panel, with bracket & go from there.
