OK TMF CREW

i think just looking at this photo below i might answer my own question.

i today tried to replace the needle and spring in my carb, but now i have a horrible high pitch squeal coming from the carb.

as the old needle was corroded into the piston (the washer thing on top of the needle ) i used the piston from another engine i had (assuming the 1 ltr carbs were the same) but looking at the picture below now i can see the float bowls are slightly different. it now makes a horrible screech. what could cause this ?? is it the wrong piston ??

many thanks for any help guys :D

Is it almost like a high pitched whistle?

If so it probably means you have a small air leak somewhere and air is rushing in making the high pitched sound. Check all your mating surfaces are clean and that any seals/ gaskets are seated properly. You may need to replace them.

Piston and dashpot are matched assembly, you need to swap both together from one carb to another

Whisteling maybe lean condition-air leak
