I didn't see what happened but saw the blue mini with its back end caved in being towed off the strip. It looked pretty bad, hope it wasn't. I felt really sorry for the guy in it, he looked like he wished the ground would open and swallow him. Not good,

Going by Artful Dodgers status I think it was Paul Wiginton.

I sure he can save it or at least I hope he can it's beautiful. Clicky

Happened this morning on the free running session - it did a few good quick runs, its last run it staged on the grandstand side, up against a white clubby - good launch, got 2/3rds down the track, then looked to have lost a wheel or something, span, crossed the other lane and slid backwards into the wall - driver got out ok, but clearly shaken.

Lots of damage!

Couldve been nastier, considering it span into the other lane, right infront of the other car. Looked like he got 2nd gear instead of 4th, which locked the front up, sending him into a spin, then hitting the barrier on the other side, back on.

Just thinking, isn't he a panel beater by trade? If anyone can save it then he definately is in the right business to do it. Certainly hope he can, its a gorgeous car.

Damn, that's not good news! :(

I know he had another shell (unless he's sold it recently) so worst case it could live again. but yeah he is or was a bodywork guy at Aston Martin so if he cant fix it no one can!

i'd say that its definitely saveable but it is going to take a fair bit of work to straighten it out I would have thought.

It was certainly quick!

I am sure it will live again - looking at it on the trailer in the paddock it only looks like a rear panel, bootlid type repair - ok, so the deseaming is going to make it harder, but it looks well salvagable!

Could have been a much worse ending - driver walks away, other racer unscathed other than a change of underwear.....

Best result considering I would say.

i sore it happen he was going along nicely and suddently the back end spun out and sent him into the wall i felt gutted for him as it was a lovely mini. i think this is getting common now as on the way back a mini on the motorway was put into the dividing wall and the back end was pushed in. i wonder whats causing this to happen? i hope everyone was ok in  the car.

I looked like it had taken at least the offside rear 1/4 panel as well........:-(
