Help needed from all you miniacs!!!
I have a 1997 Mini Cooper 1.3mpi.
When the engine is warm and then turned off I am experiencing a problem starting the engine again. It WILL start again immediately after it is turned off, but if left turned off for a few minutes it will NOT start again until the engine has cooled down.
I am thinking that this might be a fuel problem, possibly something to do with one of the many sensors.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Many thanks,
Ian

A Mate of mine had that exact problem with a metro, turned out to be the mechanical fuel pump. But you have an electric pump on a mpi don't you?
Do you have an electronic amp module on the side of the dizzy? Sometimes they can play up when hot. Also check in Haynes manual for 'engine will not start when hot'. I remeber seeing it but cant remember what it suggests. Will try to have a look 2nite.

There is no dizzy in an MPi (I won a tee-shirt for saying that at Mini@40!).
Sounds like what would be described as vapour lock in any traditional carb'd car. What would cause that in an MPi I don't know.

Hi
I've had a very similar problem after installing twin carbs to my 1.3 Sprite. When I start the car it ticks over once and then abruptly I can only describe as it seizes for a second before it fires up. Very strange.
