Hi All :proud:

I finally have a shell to play around with! Its a 1982 saloon round nose. I was looking on Ebay and I saw one for sale with a mini van grille, and I really like how it looks. I was just wondering if there would be much work involved in changing the original grille for a van grille?

Heres what I mean:

Any advice or ideas are welcome!

Thanks

well if you want i really neat finnish you would have to put a var front grill panel on which would mean welding and paint work. or if you could source a van style grill part only then you could bolt it on using the existing mounts.

At this current moment in time, the car is literally just a rolling shell that needs a bit of welding and a new paint job anyway, so im not fussed about that. I was just wondering whether I would need the van grill panel or just the grill itself. If the grill will just bolt in without any modifications, that would be ideal! :-)

I think its just bolts on, if you dont want the grille buttons then you could weld a bolt on the grille and have nuts on the inside to take it off.

this one.

id recommend just bolting it in like in the first picture. it will make working on the car much easier if it can be taken of.

Why do things come up for sale when you're skint? Lol

I intend on using it as a daily car, so would having it bolted in like the first picture compromise security? I dont want to come out of tesco and notice that its gone missing :P lol

Well, most mini grilles are just held on by a few screws or small bolts, so just as safe as the rest of our cars :)

i'd definately just screw/bolt on pressed grill as like previously said, access for working on the engine etc would be miles easier!

I've got a van grille on my saloon. Not a massive fan of chrome so went with this. Got the grille off eBay, tacked some bolts to the back that go through some holes I drilled in the front panel. Nuts are accessed through the engine bay and only takes two minutes to remove!
