Hi All,

I've recently purchased this 94 rally monte carlo edition cooper with the intention of enjoying it this year whilst carrying out a minor rolling restoration, and probably carrying out the more serious work over the winter, it does need some welding work such as outer sills, which I will do this winter.

it was a bit of a lucky find really, me and my girl friend had been thinking about getting a mini for a while when this one popped up, it had been kind of left for the last few years, it was last ton the road in 2008, so was in need of some help, I saw it and thought why not!!, did a little research and found out that there was only 200 of them, so I snapped it up, here are some pictures of it as it was when we picked it up

So far I've carried out the following work

Firstly an MOT and some tax :-)

Given it a Service

1001698_531619363553407_1624057573_n_zps

fitted a new exhaust

and employed the help of a friend to give it a good polish

and this morning I fitted a new front wheel bearing because it was making a scary noise,

I'm really looking forward to enjoying the car this year

Great looking car! The K&N air filter element makes a big difference, you might want to try that .I have the Japanese version which is not part of the Limited Edition.

Very nice find. Amazing what a good polish can do as well.

I'd rather not say what I paid for it, but I believe I got a bit of a bargain

At some point this year I need to replace the outer sills on this car, I've been looking into panels and prices, and I really want to carry out a top quality restoration on the car (as I do with any car I own) so I started looking at heritage panels, but the cost difference is massive, are they really worth the extra cost?

I have used mini machine sills and jacking points and can't fault them, fit is spot on, they even do assembled inner and outers with jacking points if needed.

Nice work Garath. I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops and probably be down to see you in mine at some point. Have to take them to the mx5 meet at end of month!

Well the restoration took a bit of a step backwards this weekend as someone has hit it while parked, and as you would expect with today's society, no note was left!!!

Not happy, but what makes it worse is it happened in the road that I live in, so I'm pretty sure it was one of my neighbours!!

29a11d1b4fa027a3d71efb9b2c10c481_zpsb0c5

It's not a huge problem because its an area that I needed to work on anyway, but that isn't the point!

Well that's unfortunate. Out here in Africa, no one really cares about someone else's pride and joy. :(

Look out for red paint on any of your neighbours cars mate...

Hope your enjoying your Mini? Be interested to see what you do. I saw your colleague at the weekend at Martins house who said you were enjoying it.
