I have a a microwave sensor fitted which chirps. Now I want to leave the sensor in place as it is good sometimes as it stops people going near the car but when it is on the driveway I want to turn it off as cats etc cause it to chirp.

It has 4 wires red, black, blue and green. I thought If I wired a switch into the red wire I could use this to turn it off. And while it does turn off the power to the sensor when the alarm is activated about 15 seconds late it goes off. Have I wired the switch to the wrong wire. Should I be to the sensor back to alarm control wire. If so which colour is this. Or do I need 2 switches one on the power the other on the alarm sensor wire.

Many Thanks

I don't know this alarm type, but most alarms don't like sensors being turned off in that way and assume its because someone is trying to nick it and that's why they go off (all in a non human by the numbers way of course). There may be a way to do it but I think it will be more complex than just bypassing the sensor sadly.

You can set the alarm with the interior protection disabled. This is called 'pet mode' - arm the alarm with button 1, then press button 1 again.
