hello,

as i have been working on the car and trying to get the ignition wired up.

its not an original one thats mounted thats for sure, its an electronic type,

it has a seperate ducelier thing with following code one it 521007d wich is from a peugeot if i look it up.

on the distributor there 2 numbers  62dm but google doesn`t find anything for it ?

and the other number is 41948d it has like a mercedes sign in front of it ?

on my old loom it is wired with 2 wires together onto one part of the coil ?

and on the other connection of the coil the wire goes to the ducelier ?

i`ve tried measuring my coils resistance as in the topic on here, and between one of the connection and the ignition lead connection i get 6.5 ohms.

but between the two small connection i get 0.2 ohms,  but if i play around with my measuring pins it flucuates (spelling ?)

there are a few numbers on my coil. 1, 15 and 4. Could anyone help me with this ?

or am i best dumping this distributor and buying a powerspark one like this http://www.ebay.co.u...-/360493080451?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53ef0fdf83

with an electronic iginition kit ?

The ohms readings on the coil should be and fixed value and not seen a coil for a Mini which has such a low reading as 0.2ohms and if that figure is fluctuating then its either dirty connections under the terminals or problems with the primary windings, I'd be getting a new 12v 3.5ohmn coil.

Not seen a Ducellier Distributor on a Mini with a electronic Module they were usually points, the trouble is the Ducelliers were ok when they were new but they wear the shaft and are not something I'd use in my engine. I be getting a new distributor.

When yo do get a new one you mention you have 2 wires together on one part of the coil, I suspect these are a white/pink and a white/yellow and the other terminal is a white black, so if you have those wires you have a Ballast Ignition System. I suggest you convert to a standard system with a 12v coil

here is how its done, discard the white/pink & white/yellow (tape in loom) run a new white wire from the fuse box 12v ignition controlled feed to the + side of your new 12v coil and when you convert to electronic trigger in the distributor you have 2 wires off the module, a Red which goes on the + of the Coil with your new White Ignition Controlled feed, and a Black which goes onto the Coil - terminal, thats all the Ignition Wiring, you may have a white/black other that the one that went to your ducellier, which is a Rev Counter Pickup.

If you get the Powersparks I did a guide on the install here http://www.theminifo...t-step-by-step/

so if i understand this correct :). trow the lot out and buy new.

when i look at my new loom :)

i have a white whire with a spade one,

2 white/black wires with a spade on there, and a white brown one.

thats all the wires that are coming out of my loom, for the ignition part.

read true your guide, looks very good.

its not an a plus engine i have so i think i will need a 25d distributor ?

or am i mistaken ?

In response to the distributor question YES!Ducellier in not a project I'd continue with

You'll wire the coil as above post, check with Ignition on the white wire does it have a ignition controlled 12v on/off, if you have a rev counter one of the white/blacks will be the coil pickup. if you dont have a rev counter those two wires are not used the electronic module is wired as I said above, thats it really.

Powersparks do a replacement 45D for the 25D so have a word with them on 01527 889453, ask for Simon say your a member of The Mini Forum

tried contacting them but simon wasn`t in today :(

they i would best buy a sports coil for the system, already did some measuring, the white wire is a +12v after contact.

so only have my 2 black and white wires wich are on the same spade.

think wiring it up will be a dodle :)

now just to get simon on the phone :)

Yes mate wiring will be, just make sure you get the trigger ring up under the rotor arm, or buy the rotor/trigger combined unit.
