im sure this has been covered but......

what would be the correct tyre pressure for a 175 50 13 on a 5.5x13 rim (its on my metro which is obviously slightly heavier than a mini)

i have never known and have been guessing for the last 2 years!

Psi between 28-32 but if you not sure, check side tyre. word said "PSI" there got number of pressure.

the psi marking on the side of the tyre is the maximum safe pressure, not the recomended pressure.

I ran 26 front and 24 rear, with Pirelli P7F's helped to get more heat in the tyres. Which I've aways found the problem with13's...........

Tyre size doesn't make any difference if you think about what pressure is. There might be some benefits to be had from differences in the tyre's construction, but that applies to different tyres of the same size nearly as much..

Not strictly true, all the 13's are designed for much faster/heavier cars than the mini. Look at the speed rating on them, that is unless things have changed in the last tens years........

You're right in general, but I can't think of anything other than Minis that  use 175/50's.

Though the same would apply if you sat your Mini on any size tyres intended for something heavier.

Look at the side of the tyre, tells you all you need to know, all the 175/50x13 i've seen are rated to iirc over 130mph...........

Surely the best pressure will give you a certain deformation of the tyre where it contacts the ground, so a wider tyre will need less pressure, and a larger diameter tyre will also require less pressure! Any variation from this will give you an uneven wear pattern.
