You certainly dont want to scrimp on gearbox parts. Minispares stock genuine parts - theyre best.

You can save some money perhaps by stripping it out and only buying what you actually need rather than a whole kit

No disrespect to guessworks but I'm not guna send it away to be rebuilt for £500 £600 + wen my mate can do it for me mates rates.

I'm not saying quests works is to expensive but the time I pay postage etc it works out a lot £££

the recon kits are the very least you will need imo, and will not contain genuine baulk rings, they will set you back about 80 alone.

its one of those jobs that you wont know what you will need until you take it apart.

that said if your mates in a position to rebuild a gearbox to a good enough standard then what does he advise?

for a comparison I have just spent about 550 on gearbox parts, that's with an X pin, genuine baulk rings and a change of final drive though

What we are saying to you is that Guessworks (if you check their site listed above) also sell re-build kits... There is an excellent 'how to do it' guide on his site too...

I bought my kit from him...

Barman oh right okay thank you I didn't know he sold kits ..

And rob mac I'm not in a massive hurry to build my engine so it don't matter if it takes my mate a while to do it and yes he is capable to build one for me he works at a local mini center on Saturdays has his own mini stated before that he built a box for and is fine no probs at all .

And the reason why I want to do the hole lot bearings etc is I bought the engine and the guy told me the box was fine once I stripped it down the diff was nakerd , lock washers was cracked , locating teeth on gear was chewed up
