hi guys. sorry if this is in the wrong section

so, not too long ago during my restoration, i came to the point where i needed to buy a starter motor and solenoid. i got the ones i needed and fitted them without hassle, but when it came to wiring up the solenoid i noticed that the tabs were very loose and flimsy, and shortly after one of them actually broke off completely just from trying to gently push the connector on.

so thinking i had got a dud one, i bought another, and this one is just the same. it hasnt broken yet as im being extra careful, but the quality really is absolutely terrible. so does anyone know where i can get a better one? or would i simply need to look for an older/genuine one?

thanks guys

Chris

Lucas are not what they used to be, and seeing the green box now doesn't really mean quality like it used too.

Mini Spares are trying to phase out the Lucas items to be replaced with the Mini Spares genuine made items. Like the indicator stalks BAU5345 etc.

Very true, ive never worked out why people go to mini specialists and pay postage etc for standard service stuff that the local motor factors keep on the shelf or can get in quickly. Often the motor factors are cheaper too, I just use specialists now for more difficult to get parts.
