Newton won't care either. The nickel vinyl that was used in the steering wheels and seats is available elsewhere. Once you've found a source, take it to someone that can retrim steering wheels. Mine's in getting done at the moment to match my new seats :D

Are you sure it's vinyl, i thought it was leather?

I have asked a few places around and they are saying i would have to order a whole roll. the perks of living in Australia.

Would you be able to pass on the trimmers details, maybe he could post me some if its an exact match.

I'm sure the facings of the seats and steering wheels are leather I've had to use quite a bit of heat to remove indents from my seats and if they were vinyl they would almost definitly have melted.  The seats are painted rather than dyed and I've found a company who will match the silver.  I'm going to do this to my steering wheel for now but know it wont last.  Retrimmed wheels are available but are too expensive for me at present with all the other bits I need.

The guys who pulled my steering apart said mine was vinyl, silver/nickel leather is extremely expensive and difficult to get hold of. As I've mentioned before with regards to the seats, the boulsters are leather, the rest is vinyl.

Does anyone know of any places in the UK that might be breaking a later mini up so i can crab a spare steering wheel and airbag, and have that one re done? could anyone help me out with a trimmer that has the right colour as well?

Sorry Zeemax, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I think it was liquid leather,  They said if I send them a sample they will match the colour.  For additional charge you can have them colour your seats or they do offer a kit to do it at home.

Great thread, I'm just starting a red cooper sport too - another amazed at how badly the rot gets to the mpi's.
Would also like a spare steering wheel done as my original didn't look too bad in the car as I bought it but might not look so good in a fresh restored one. I got a wheel off eBay for £20 but now need it trimming - maybe would could sort a deal if there was a few us?

Looks brilliant. I've just bought a 1999 cooper. It's having some welding work done at the moment. Wings , a panels , floor. Lol. Been told the rear subframe needs changing. Not sure what I need at the moment. I've been told a sports pack subframe. Expensive. Does a normal one fit . Do u have any ideas on the matter.
