Thanks for the comments :-) nice to know people are reading this. New phone on the way so hopefully pictures will be improved, as this almost 5 year old iPhone is getting tired now.

Well guys and girls its been a while since I've updated.  Once I realised my L2B deadline was a bit ambitious I shut the garage door and had a break for a couple of months.  So today I decided to get my ass in gear and get cracking again.  I finally collected my engine and gearbox from the engine builder on saturday.  Im so glad I got him to do it, hes old school and extremely knowledgable, even if it cost a bloody fortune.  So today I set about assembling the front subframe.  Was nice to have everything in paint and all the nuts, bolts and bushes ready..I was actually prepared.

And then dropped this in place.  Finally feels as though I'm getting somewhere

Still lots to do before it goes into the car as this is how it came back from the engine builder and he's more into having it running right than it looking pretty.  So its now rebored to 1293cc, piper cam and ported head.  Gearbox caused him loads of trouble too so hopefully I shouldn't encounter serious issues once its up and running.

Also got the new steering rack and column fitted.  I've almost got a car.

Clutch and brake pedals and master cylinders also fitted along with servo and new pipes, still some to do.

Well that's all for today.  Think Ill have to go and work a bit more to buy the rest of the bits to get the engine up and running.

Looks great, make sure to really clean up the earth point behind the expansion tank whilst its easy to get to, can cause some odd issues otherwise...

Thanks for the comments 😊 Need to start putting a list together now for all the bits to get it up and running. Don't fancy risking the old alternator ( bad experience) nor the oily coil pack. Also deciding whether to put an lcb on at this stage or leave it for now. I have a twin dtm stainless rc40 back box just need the rest of the exhaust system

if you can afford a stainless LCB, then do it now, pain in the arse to remove a rusty LCB... (I had to use a hack saw!)

Excellent build. Keep it up. Do you have a standard cast manifold just now. If so keep that. Not very restrictive and has the lambda sensor in the right place.

Ye I've got the cast manifold but I'm going to need a new downpipe anyway and as I've gone this far I may as well do the lcb now. Think I'll move the lamda to the y section though so I can pass the emissions

Specialist components do an LCB in stainless with the lambda season at the y price. The only one I would put on an injection car.

I am running a similar spec engine without the 20 thou rebore. Going to keep the cast manifold and put a new downpipe on. The injection exhaust manifold are pretty efficient and much quieter than tubular steel.
