My Midas will eventually need new tyres. It's an early model so does not have the larger flared arches that came with the Mk2 Bronze and was originally designed for 145 section tyres. I cannot tell anyone whether the 165 section tyres will clear easily as a) I don't have any, and b) the car is just a shell at the moment (and probably will be for a while yet).

What I want to know is will I really notice the difference that a 165 tyre will offer? I will only be using the car for road use - it won't be a track toy. Early Midases are so rare I have not seen another on the road so can't compare. I would be using the original Mistral 5.5 x 12 wheels which had 145 section tyres on when I got it. The youngest was 14 years old :ohno:

Are the Falken 145 tyres any good? It seems to be pretty much the only one on the market apart from Nankangs.

Tire section is in mm so the diference between 145 and 165 is 2 cm, so only 1 cm on each side. It should only "fill up" a bit more your arches without fouling.
