Well if you cannot solve your problem the correct way, you can always use the rear setup I had after a rebuild that was a total "rear brake overkill", making my rear try to overtake me any time I had to break hard...

I had fitted alloy minifins (along with 8.4 vented disk on front), which is OK, but my local "Mini specialist" had the idea to increase rear break power by fitting front wheel drum shoes (they can fit in minifins which are larger). In your case, if nothing else works, this could "even up" your braking dis-balance? :shy:

You say in your first post about a bulkhead valve. Then later you mention the Wilwood bias valve.
Do you have both?

still have yet to get to the bottom of why i have problems on the rear brakes - havent done anything as it passed mot, just on the limit at the rear, but am thinking of changing the front brakes to cooper s 7.5`s which should sort the problem out.

thinking behind this is that my clubman has the same braking general braking system, only difference between the two is the clubman has cooper s type 7.5`s on the front, whereas the 850 has 7.9 4 pots.

Have never had any problems with the brakes on the clubman, so must be something to do with the 4 pots taking too much brake fluid from the system?

Check the contact patch of the shoes and reprofile them as required to increase the amount of lining touching the drum.

With standard set up in my 1992 998 city e I had similar symptoms. Solved by overhauling the bulkhead valve, the non service item received few new O rings.
