This past week I purchased for my15 year old son and I a 1979 Mini 850 right hand drive from an online for sale listing right here in Houston.

We are loving it!

We already have a list of items to do. We replaced the battery, new shorter fan belt, cleaned, waxed and ordered more parts

Ordered the motor mounts. Stabilizer bushings, wheel stud, lug nut, cv joint boots, headlight switch and fuel pump.
Here are some pics. Does anyone know what size of sliding ragtop fits these cars? I would love to add one.

This forum is great!

Hi and welcome to TMF, car looks good, the roof is doable but will be a pain to source one stateside.

This uk website does sunroofs for mini's amongst other stuff.

Thanks!  We are real happy with the car so far.  Everyone that has seen it loves it. We went to fill it up with gas and right away someone approached us and to say how much they liked the car and asked if we wanted to sell it.

A car without Air Conditioning here in Texas is crazy! I'm thinking a LARGE hole in the roof couldn't hurt.

Mini +Texas = Oven

Mini w/ Ragtop  + Texas = Convection Oven

Ok, so there may be no hope of getting much cooler but I love the open feeling.

I also have a 2007 MINI Cooper S convertible Sidewalk addition.

Can't see why cutting the roof in a hot place like that would be a problem !
