Hello,

Being in the process of fitting a MED 7 port head with injection to my engine, I'd like to take the opportunity to add a cam sensor in order to set it with sequential injection. It takes a bit more work to fine tune but will benefit idle stability and low RPM response, besides making the engine "greener".

But I'm struggling to find what part is supposed to be fitted between the sensor and the fuel pump hole, where the sensor is fitted, from where it will read a specific cam lobe. I can always drill a hole in any blanking plate for fuel pump hole, but it may not be very "oil proof". Does anyone know what is supposed to be fitted there (pictures and/or reference).

Thanks a lot,

Diogo

One of my friends has a MPI engine in his workshop, i will be there working on my mini over the weekend and will have a look to see how it fits & get a photo for you if nobody can help before then.

I've seen this on ebay, but there are 2 sensors on the, very poor, picture, one for the camshaft, the other for the cranksensor that fits by the flywheel. I'm not sure which one on the picture is fitted on a steel "adapter" but I think it's the cranksensor one.

... and Mini MPI "electrical manual" doesn't give much more detail...

Well,

I finally found this detailed view of the camshaft position sensor fitting on an MPI block from a Mini MPI Workshop Manual.

It seems that the "fuel pump hole" has been adapted to be a perfect fit for the sensor, which is not the case on a "standard" A+ 1275 block where the hole is bigger. It seems that I will have to cut a hole in the blanking plate, ensure that everything is sealed, and hope that it gets in the right place to have a good read of the cam lobes...
