I really think that we do need a Bini section, not a big one but just one as for some reason they do seem quite popular and a lot of people are joining to ask questions about them and a few people do own both. Also in it there could be a pinned thread with links to more mainstream Bini forums this way when people are looking at this site they can see these and see that it may be a better option to join them aswell or instead of here. an example would be a Bini owner is looking for soem info and gets directed to TMF because its so great and then looks through the forum finds the bini section and then can see the links to the other places and can make a better decision as to which forum to join. what to people think.

I think this has been raised before and the answer is that this is a Classic Mini forum.

As an owner of both its quite easy to locate a MINI forum on the t'interweb........

As above, it has been discussed at length before and the verdict is that we are a classic Mini forum.

Same goes with metros, all those who have them on here (and theres quite a few) have asked, but turned down as its a mini site, and there are other sites specifically for metros/BINIs etc

If they don't get the badge, the picture and the sections then they are just not reading anything before they sign up. Short of a 78 point banner saying something like 'we don't do Binis' I am not sure anything would work.

yes yes you would think that all the pics of the classic mini might make it a bit obvious which way we sway,  and im not saying Bini owners are a bit dumb for not noticing but they do seem to not notice very obvious things like this. Also it is not to say that we dont do binis but are really mainly classic minis.

Maybe a useful other links page that could incorperate a few things such as mini specific companies and other forums such as binis, metros etc

The mini forum for classic mini's simple as that no other car can compare to the iconic status of this car so why should it share it's limelight, I for one don't want to be reading how inadequate bini's or metro's are behave yourself!

so you just want to read  about how inadequate minis are and how the break down all the time and need rebuilding :ohno: :proud:

what id like to suggest is something just as little as

"This is a classic mini forum if you are interested in Binis go here ..... and metros go here ....."

No I just want to read about a British icon! A bini or metro will never achieve this status! Nothing to do with how much it needs repairing/rebuilding

And Austin 1800s here.... MGBs here..... Escorts here...... Triumphs here...... Jag.....

You get the idea. Its a mini forum for minis, not Binis, not metros, not Trabants or Huing Cheys or any other car you could mention.

To most people in the world they are MINI's or New MINI's, R50/53/56 MINI's or BMW Mini's......and to most MINI owners the term Bini is a derogatory/lazy/childish term.....so if we ever were intending to help MINI owners visiting this site then using that name would not be a very encouraging or friendly start!

ps. Nobody gets confused about all the completely different versions in the long evolution of say a Fiesta/ Golf/ Beetle/ Fiat 500 or any other car that has used the same name over many years....... We should be proud the Mini name is still used on a current model, selling well worldwide and that most are still built in Cowley, Oxford.

Binis' have no place on a mini forum, or at mini shows for that matter, they should have their own scene.

For one thing, they are a lie, they are hardly mini are they?

I know I'm new on here, but I say no!! Lol
