Hi everybody.

been having a look at exsaughts again and most of the one's that are cheap ish have LCB exsaught manifolds. i heard that these arn't the best things to fit to an 998cc engine as it has somthing to do wityh exsaught pulses (i think it was dan........i think) BUT for someone who has little money and would like a bit more grunt would it be better than my current stock blowley 1 inch standard exsaught system?

cheers.

If you can get a freeflow,as per the 998 cooper. They are 3 in 1 as apose to 3 into 2 then into 1.

An LCB will be better than stock though.

Where's your exhaust blowing? You can change the pipe from the manifold to the back box if you're concerned about an LCB. If it's blowing at the manifold, put a stock one back on, then change the pipe and back box.

i don't have the exsaught yet. just wanted to know about lcd on 998. my exsaught (the stock one) is blowing around the clip that connect the manifolt to the rest of the exsaught system. i kninda bent it all out when i had no clue what i was doing and just kept tight-ing the nut till it bent it all up so it won't sit flush. so it blows. need some exsaught tape really.

Why don`t you buy a Stage1-Kit?

Gives your engine slightly better performance and at the same time removes this f-g clip!

Anyway, I don`t have / had any troubles with the LCB manifold.

And if you just want to replace the original system, I wouldn`t hesitate buying an LCB.
But: You might need another carb-needle!

Well it's not actually a bad idea and it's not going to do anything negative or give you any problems if you fit an LCB to a 998. It's just not as good a manifold as a Freeflow type is for this particular engine so you won't be able to get as much out of it as you could if you did use a Freeflow. The LCB is better than the standard manifolds (except I think I've heard that maybe the standard twinpoint one might be pretty good) but on a 998 not as good as a Freeflow, that's all. The Freeflow is still a 3-2-1 design but the pipe lengths are tuned more to suit the smaller engine.

er.......whats a f-g clip?? i did have a look at stage 1 kits but the exsaught that i've see is going very very cheap. also from what i can tell a stage 1 kit is an exsaught and air filter.....and possably a few other bits like new carb needle and the clips and gasgets. which (again depending on how cheap this exsaught go's) i can buy sepratly. so it shouldn't be a problem.

anywho cheers for all the advice. i'll go for the lcb then.

cheers.
