theres a unit on the top of my fuel tank its a 1993 carb model does any body know what its for is it emmision related

no, i doubt anything on the fuel tank will be emmissions related, unless its one of those dodgy fuel saver things ive seen on the web, it may be that your talking about the breather arrangement?
