I have an MOT re -test tomorrow. My 1993 Sprite failed on a number of issues which I have fixed except for the emissions. I am told that most experts run the carb rich and weaken it for the MOT so that it passes the CO emissions test. last MOT it had only 0.5 % but this time with the car running well I hit 6%.
Question number one - is this normal?
Question number 2 - I have 15 minutes on the ramp with screwdriver in hand to play with it.
Firstly my Haynes manual has no info on the HIF 38 - very helpful - I think the mixture screw is at the bottom of the carb on the left hand side - off side - drivers side - it has a screw slot in it.
Is it clockwise to weaken or vice versa?

Any help would be much appreciated.
