Looks an awesome project, nice attention to detail. Can't wait to see fresh almond paint on our sportpack !!

Do I spy a moonstone 3 door in a pic ?

Thanks, it's been a relatively easy resto as car was complete and only one previous owner, most damage was caused by garage who did repairs on it, over sills being one and heel boards plated over when new subframe fitted.
It is a moonstone 3 door in other garage which is reason I lost a bit of interest in the minis and cooper not been taxed since 1999, but have rekindled some interest in them so glad kept them now. Hopefully when this car finished will drop the rear beam on sierra and clean up under the back, then start on the cooper, so I have a bit of work on at the moment. Better than wasting my money though.

Another small update

Car covered up for now

Subframes coated with hb body epoxy

Bonnet and doors coated in epoxy

Petrol tank given a coat of high build epoxy then a coat of 2k direct gloss, not perfect but I only flatted tank wasn't prepared to fill it so any small dents are still in it

Subframes with a coat of 2k gloss, although I brush painted them so finish not perfect but acceptable for were they are located.

Hopefully get doors and bonnet flatted and any small bits on them sorted, then get the top coat on. Thought it wise to get painting finished before I carry on putting car together as don't want to be painting in winter.

Great car Daz. Just started pulling my 66 850 apart, youve given me even more incentive to do it right.
Keep up the good work

Another little update, painted bonnet and inside of doors, will paint outside of doors later,

Bonnet had 3 coats of 2k direct gloss and I think the finish from my little devilbiss sri takes some beating

Not best picture due to light but one door complete, will have to paint other tomorrow as not got anything to rest it on,
A few dust nibs but other than that is fine, think I am finally getting the confidence with painting. Just need to improve my lighting as when wearing airfed mask even though it's clean it still obscures light a little

Thanks, got my mk2 to do next so hopefully have learnt enough doing this one to be able to do the other better, have wasted some money on stuff I didn't need and had a few learning curves with paint but if you need any advice from a genuine first time painter who has learnt by practice then let me know, but will say the paint only shows all the work done underneath and this is the hard bit. It took a while to learn how to apply and block sand filler properly then what products to use. I have spent good money on stuff that I was disappointed with, I will never use a 1k primer or stopper ever again, and just because it's 2k doesn't mean isocyanate. Epoxy primer is very good as that's what I used on bonnet and doors, I did use 2k high build on top but can't see why epoxy wouldn't work as well, just I have 2k high build and I ran out of epoxy. Use cellulose on the top coat if you want but at least with everything properly cured underneath it won't sink or react with the cellulose, but I now much prefer 2k gloss but may try my mk2 with clear over base as want some practice with painting clearcoat.
I bought 3 cheaper sprayguns before buying a devilbiss and now won't use anything else

Weapon of choice, have been well impressed with this gun, even though it's effectively a touch up gun it paints full panels without problem.

Cleaned up airbox and put on a coat of aerosol primer for now

Just got the number plate backing plates, petrol tank strap and battery clamp to clean up now and will paint them all black
