I have a 1989 Austin Mini Racing Flame. The engine is stock so which cone style air filter would most likely fit. The most i know about the carb at the moment is that it SU.

Best overall results with a k&n filter for standard airbox.

If you want some extra noise, then put a cone filter, it will need a stub stack to work properly.

You'll need a different needle for your carb to cope with the different airflow.
