Does anyone know if there is an adapter available to screw into the brake servo outlet on an inlet manifold that would enable me to connect my vacuum gauge up? Bare with me, Im terrible at describing things - sort of a bolt with a hollow through it ending with a male piece on the top of it that I can put the tube on to the vac gauge?

Just to save me drilling and tapping unnecessarily into the inlet. Cheers!

You need to replace the spacer with this one:

Ahh I see - Im currently not running a spacer as I tried it with one when I installed the carb last weekend but the jet hit the bulkhead - are the bulkheads near the carb slightly different between the earlier models (HS2) and later models?

You definately need a spacer between carb and manifold for a few reasons.

This one whit the vacuum take off is thinner than the standard hs4 alloy spacer, allowing fitment with the old subframe.

Its the engine mountings point in the old subframes that give this clearance problem against the bulkhead. I've used one of these spacer to fix the problem with mine.

Also to add, back in the days carbs didnt have the big waxstat jets, and standard manifold was designed to make the carb clear the bulkhead, now with the current big inlet manifolds and bix waxstat carbs its not un-usual to have clearance problems.

Ok so this spacer should be ok with my twin bolt subby, a waxstat HS4 and ally inlet? This is great info youre giving by the way, really appreciate it!

You should have from 5mm to 1cm clearance with the big 'torquemaster' alloy inlet.

I know its not an awful lot, but as long as the engine steady bushes are in good conditions it wont be a problem.

I've even fitted an HIF44 on mine and that will be a very tight fit!
