Have a MKII shell which could possibly be a Cooper S... it has the extra raised boot covering spacers, brackets on the back of the rear seat on drivers side, twin tank holes, extra water channel on roof lip but no front end. It does have a tag on the drivers side floor but is rusted beyond recognition.

Is there anyway I could find out and obtain the documentation of the shell as there is no V5 with it?

Cheers

Davey

If you have a vin late and/or Reg plate you can give hertiage a ring and they'll get you a heritagge certificate which you'll have to pay for but tells you everything.

If not im afraid you,ve just got a very old mk1 shell :/

If you're looking to sell it give me a PM please as i could do with an early shell

Regards,

Cliff

If it is a Cooper S there will be a tank stand on the right side of the boot.  This should be welded in place and the tank strap should be bolted to the seat back in a small indent.  A photo on here would be great.

The dash should be covered as will the windscreen pillars, even if this has been stripped off, there should still be some glue lurking.

Unfortunately as has been said, unless you have a reg number or the chassis number you have little hope of getting the V5.

The chassis number would have been on a plate screwed to the top of the radiator cowling.

The upper end of the right hand tank strap is attached via a bracket which uses four mounting points.

Is the VIN number still readable? It is stamped in the edge of the scuttle, under the bonnet. Not sure if it always was, possibly not on early models, but still wortth a look.

front panel is different to allow for the oil cooler!!!!!

if the entire front end has gone and no docs you will struggle. and even if it is  a cooper s shell with no numbers or docs it will not be worth loads

If you have just this shell, with no other original parts of the car, and no documents at all, it cannot be easily returned to the road legally.
