Hi all,

Well coming to fit my rear subframe, as i'm doing my second heelboard repair, and I'm using what looks to be an aftermarket rear subframe, mk5 front trunions, mk3 rear trunions, old front subframe bushes, and new rear bushes. Now one side lines up perfectly, but the other is god awful. Is there any difference in rear subframes (dry) And any ideas what it is caused by? New rear subframe needed??

Cheers,

Nathan

Sorted this New bushes on the rear were too big and twisted the subframe so it was bent, thus why the opposite side holes were wayyy out of line

While you are at it, why not fit MK 3 trunnions and bushes all round? There is no difference in the subframe which would affect their fitting, and the stiffer bushes will slightly improve the handling. This is the one place on a Mini that poly bushes will work ok, and I have also known them to be machined from Delrin, effectively solid, in some cases. That might be a bit too hard, as it may result in a serious increase in road noise.

A solid mounted front subframe gives a much bigger handling boost of course, but that is another story, and for all I know you may have done that already.
