Hi,
To my knowledge the front and rear have different fittings ? So I would be suprised if it is a rear on the front. The fronts should have the same type of mounting top and bottom where the rears should have different fittings for top and bottom.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys having just removed my offside front shock absorber i've noticed when fully compressed it's taking an quite some time to re-emerge ie 40 seconds approx,is this normal or is it past it's best?.It's a Gmax supersport Rear-HA (gas) and also can anybody advise why the previous owner would of fitted a rear shock to the front?.Many thanks.
Front and rear 'shock absorbers' have different fittings completely....
In reality, they are 'dampers'; the rubber (or wet) suspension absorbs the shocks and the dampers prevent the car bouncing up and down forever... So, they don't have to spring apart when they are compressed... Indeed, my Gaz dampers will stay compressed when you push the two ends together....

If it says rear, maybe it is for a different car?
Gas-filled dampers will extend themselves when removed from the car. Non-gas filled ones do not. If it is taking 40 seconds, I would suggest that most of the gas has leaked out, which will impair its damping ability rather severely. I recommend fitting a new pair or adjustables. Always change things like dampers in pairs.

I have a set of GMAX all round and it shouldn't take 40 seconds to re-extend, should be nearer 10, I would return it before you end up with one that breaks completely.
