Hello all,

This one of many ignition problems I've had this week, the car has only been road legal for a week, after a long restoration.

Long story short she won't start: miss-firing coughing and spluttering.

The car ran great for two days, (was only rolling roaded on 30-8-13) then on Tuesday evening it began to run very poor and was unable to idle.

Initially I thought the points were at fault as I had no spark. So decided to fit electronic igniton (Powermax) with no avail.

Further inspection the dizzy cap was at fault which I replaced. Ensuring the firing order was correct (1-3-4-2) with the rotar arm rotating anti clockwise.

This now produce's a  good spark, using Electronic ignition system or Points and condensor. But she won't start! Just lots of bangs!!

Rotating the dizzy to advance or retard just makes it worse.

I`m now concerned the problem is more serious and the miss fire may have damaged things further?

Please advise as the sunshine wont be around for much longer!!

Thanks Stevie

When engine is at TDC on the firing order for number one (rockers for cylinder 4 can be rocked) is the rotor arm physically pointing at the number one spark plug?? Or the number one HT lead plug on the cap?
