Hi guys i've been looking at buying for mini for my first car for over a year now and have slowely got enough to start looking to buy one. The only thing is i dont know what engine size to get. Im 18 and want the car as a every day car. I've test drove 2 minis, a  1.0 and a 1.3 but dont know what engine size to buy? I'm edging towards the 1.3 just because i want something with a bit more power but is it worth it? Eventually after a few years i will be wanting to modify the mini to a 1380. Im just want to know what you guys would suggest? thanks alot.

Jack.

998s i think are rather nippy standard because of its build its like a little go kart, plus because it is a mini the handling is fantastic.

With the right modifications 998s can be rather fast, plus they are cheaper to insure and petrol is better.

Id say get the 998, i dont think its all about engine size with a classic mini

I insured my mini in January as an 18 year old and when I asked there was no difference in insurance quotes between the 998 and 1275. 998's are adequate, but you might as well get the extra grunt of a 1275 ;)
