There's a couple of methods.

Ideally you need a headunit that has an ipod connection cable so you only have one connection.  This would carry audio as well as charging the iPad.

To physically mount the ipad you'll need to combine a mount from eBay/Halfords etc.

eg:

The other way is a combination of power from the 12v connection and a phono 3.5mm audio connection to an auxiliary input on your headunit.  It's long winded but cheaper.

It can't. You'll need to charge it independently to the auxiliary connection or use a headunit that has an iPad connection that will charge as well as play music.

For example something like this would charge your iPod and play music through its serial connector on the bottom. http://www.caraudiod...a-receiver.html

Whether any one these will work with the iPad mini is another question since they have the changed the connector on the bottom to the lightening one and also its quite new, most head unit at the moment where built for the older iPod connection.

I doubt anyone has done this other than in show cars.  The iPad is the size of the windscreen in a mini...

It can be changed and quite easily using a conversion loom such as this:
