My other car i drive to commute to work is a citroen saxo. 4 days ago i noticed a humming noise that has gradually got worse. I originally thought it was my exhaust, but the noise stopped when i turned right. I looked under the car that night and found the gaitor had come off the CV joint on the front passenger side and the metal retaining clip had broken. Quite a bit of grease has now been scattered about, but ive given it a bit of a clean. Ive had the gaitor put back in place and a new fastener fitted, however the car is still making the same noise. As i accelerate the pitch of the humming increases, but its only when im turning right does the noise stop. I think ive had a similar thing happen on my mini and it was the wheel bearing (as this also gave a humming noise)...

...Any suggestions on what it could be???...

Thanks

you've probably got dirt & water in the joint and it's worn it. replace the CV.
