Took my standard 1999 Cooper for it's MOT today, MOT guy told me the two centrally mounted spot lamps should not come on with the full beam, they should be on a separate switch.

I told him the car is the same as it left the factory, (or at least I think it is) with no switch fitted for the spot lights activation.

Is he right that the spots should not come on when I put the full beam on?

Yep, that's how mine are.

To begin with I thought he meant the fog lights, but he said they are ok on a separate swtich.

Thanks for the replies, it was a late afternoon Friday appointment, he must have been thinking of something else!

Fogs wont do much for you with their light pattern coming on with main beam, so no real advantage, but it means wired as they are you wont be able to use them in fog.
