I purchased a scooped bonnet from Zcars and it will not clear the fuel tank.  When I look through the photos of builds I notice the tanks are not rectangular like mine, rather they are more like a trapezoid.  They have a significant angle to clear the bonnet.  Does anyone have the dimensions of the early tank.  Zcars technical people said I can make the bonnet fit by notching a hole in the air scoop where the filler cap goes.  I don't believe this will work as the interference is the entire leading edge.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ed

Here are the dimension of the tank that should be used for the scooped bonnet. You may still need to do some trimming to the bonnet but a whole lot less with this shape tank. FYI I ordered a scooped bonnet and a tank to match, then got a rectangular tank that had to be returned, 2+2 maybe not making 4 on that day......... :dontgetit:

Hi Ed

the scooped bonnet is supplied deeper than needed to allow you to trim to fit your application depending on tank height

you may need to remove material from the length of the scoop https://www.dropbox....kk/DSCN2514.JPG

Thanks guys, this is extremely helpful. Do you guys run fuel bladders in the tanks?

I don't but if I had the money I'd get a proper fuel cell made for it. PhotoguyUSA (Lyle) had one in his car, looked sweet and would stop you worrying about fuel going everywhere in the event of an accident......

Hi Ed

I had a similar issue but I wanted to retain the shape of the bonnet so I had two scallops adapted to the rear of the tank to allow access for the front shocks along with a shallower top as mine was deeper than 80mm, hope this helps.

Hi Geoff

That looks great, can you send me some more photos or direct me to a build diary?  I am in the process of getting fuel cell quotes, the companies in the states are very proud of them!

Hi Ed

Unfortunately I haven't kept a build diary, but i have taken plenty of photos! If you subscribe to miniworld keep an eye out over the next couple of months as they have done a feature on it.

Here's a another photo of the tank with scallops, the only thing different I would of done is allowed for a swirl pot.
