Hey guys and gals,

I am on the lookout for some Lucas 7" Yellow Headlight Covers. If anyone is looking to sell or knows anyone who is, please post on this thread :).

Many thanks,

Jack!

I've got a pair, I'll check the condition of them when I finish work and get back to you.

You lose about 15% of the light output when you fit yellow covers.

Just thought I would mention it especially if you drive the car at night.

I've got them on my car, drive down an unlit road and you'll be struggling to see :L

But mine is a weekend toy so I don't really use it too much in the dark

Combined with the fact it is illegal to show a permanently on yellow light to the front in the UK except in fog or falling snow. They were for converting your lights for travelling to France which at one time required yellow head lamps.

I've been pulled over with them on and they didn't say anything :L

The French introduced yellow lights so that they could tell a French vehicle from an enemy one at night; Germans always had white lights. Some might say that it helped them to surrender ;D .

Later, to dispel this symbol of military failure, they tried to say that the yellow lights caused less glare. Well, of course they did as they allowed less light out!

The French used to get very upset when we drove there with our white lights, even though the requirement for yellow could only apply to French vehicles. We never fitted yellow covers when rallying in France on events like the Monte as our cars met UK lighting regulations.
