So, I need a new bonnet as my steel one is crumpled, given the prices of a new steel bonnet I have been looking at CF bonnets

From what I can gather only Curley & arch-angels make these. I'm after a non-weave showing one as I intend to paint it body colour

Arch-Angels have 3 different specs./prices dependant on the strength/lightness of the part, Curley have just 1 spec.

Do both makes fit as well as each other??

Which A-A CF bonnet would you go for, or would u get a Curley one?

Also, anyone know if these are pre-made or is there a lead-time & what is it?

Thanks :D

Would you mind adding the links to the bonnets, I wouldn't mind having a look myself. I'll have a google now in the mean time :)

Yeah I just had a look at the ones on Arc Angels, they look really well made. £90 for the bonnet and a further £200 just for the privilege of seeing the carbon weave though !! I thought all they had to do is lacquer the carbon rather than gel coat it? I have a carbon bonnet on my Supra which I really like, but I just can't see how they can warrant trebling the price just so you can actually see the carbon which imo is the main reason people buy them in the first place unless they really want to reduce the weight for racing purposes.

Looking at Curley's options, they charge £70 for the carbon showing, which is much more reasonable as it covers the layers of lacquer they have to apply and the time taken to do it.

Have you considered fibreglass (GRP)? If you're gonna paint it, then I can't really see the point in having carbon fibre. It may be stronger, but does it really warrant the pricetag?

I have considered FG, yes but I wanted a bit more strength as I have a FG front-end on already  =]

I have also thought about getting another metal one but new ones are £170, how do they justify that price tag?? :o when u consider this, CF is not really a bad price :D

It may be that Arch-Angels use pre-preg cf matt to do the weave-showing which is twice the cost of normal CF matt for the base material  ;)

I may have to contact them

What are the differences between the MK1 and MK3 bonnet? Trying to figure out which one I would need.

Arc angels only charge more for the showing weave because it means using a different type of resin and also the time it takes to line the weaves. I've heard a lot of bad things about arc angels so personally I would go for Curley.

also the CF doesn't actually have much more strength compared to the grp bonnets. Both will shatter in an impact and provide no help to you at all. Save the money and get a grp bonnet unless you just want to be able to gloat about having CF

OK, thanks =]

Mk3 onwards bonnets have an extra lip on the frt. to mount the top slat/upper surround of the grille onto, Mk1's do not as the 'moustache is the top part of the grille & that fits to the front panel :D I'm not really sure about Mk2 ones

Basically, if you want a Mk1 moustache + grille u need the Mk1, for all other grilles, the other one  :shifty:
