Does anyone know where I could get some Weld-through primer in Italy? I keep looking around, but I can't get a good description when I translate it over. I can only find Zinc primer, but for after welding, and not before hand like U-pol #2.  I would buy it on Ebay, but shipping pice is just ridiculous. Also when closing off the out and inner sills for rust proof protection, would a couple of coats of zinc primer work? Or should it be painted over? I wish i was back in England. LOL

Are Lechler not based in Italy? Try this link:

http://www.lechler.e...1.10.1.all.html

I would imagine that any automotive paint supplier in Italy would stock it or be able to get it.

They probably do, but the language barrier makes it a bit difficult to get stuff. I've even been to car restoration shop and they look puzzled as to what I'm asking about. i even show them a picture of the u-pol and translate the description and they look confused. LOL I'll check out the link you sent me. Thanks mate.

I have only ever been to the north east part of Italy which used to be Austria, and they all speak German. Fortunately in that area, many people have a working knowledge of English (perhaps even more so than Italian), but I do appreciate your difficulty. Lovely country, despite the language barrier.

I dont buy my primer over the net, i just call a local supplier and they send me the stuff with their own curier.

Although I've never used weld-through i've got some other stuff from u-pol, so i think most professional suppliers over here stock u-pol primers and fillers. As with everything in italy, you have to refer to the supplier who deals with professionals, bodyshops in your case. And tell them you're a professional and experienced, someone who knows what he wants but is looking for some help in a new foreign country.

Otherwise they will not understand and you'll only get what they claim to be 'the best product out there' which usually turns out to be useless (and pretty expensive) stuff.

From the official standox suppliers lists, heres the one in pordenone:

IVICOLORS S.r.l. Viale Venezia, 69 33170 - Pordenone Tel. +39 0434 550254/552886 Fax +39 0434 368914 [email protected]

Give them a call they should be able to help you.
