I know how to fit shocks basically...but I thought I read somewhere before fitting new shocks they should be opened up/compressed again fully 5 or so times.

I've never done this before when fitting shocks but is it correct? Anything else I should know?

yeh is true, i did it with mine apparently its to get the air out of the system. I think its just because they havent been compressed or expanded properly since they have been made and is always worthwhile checking they actually work before you bolt them to the car lol
