[Firstly my apologies if this has been asked & answered before but I didn't see anything specific on my search and as it's brakes I thought I'd better ask & be sure.]

I currently servicing repairing a friend's 1996 (N-reg) SPi. I've done the front brakes inc. new calipers and will be having a go at the rear drums next week. When I bled the system I noticed that the metal piping from a mount on the suspension to the wheel cylinder was not in good shape. Am I correct in thinking that I need Minispares part# HD10 as well as a brake pipe bending tool? Also is it possible to obtain a new union as the one on the suspension doesn't look particularly good?

[Edit: Wrong part no.]

that's the correct part, no need for a bender, the pipe is easy enough to bend by hand.

If you mean the union on the radius arm, that's actually a flexipipe.. could replace with a full set of these

Yes, the "union" on the arm is just the end of the hose & a lock nut. An alternative is to replace the hose as well with a braided banjo hose http://www.minispare... hose rear.aspx. You might find yourself needing to replace the pipes back to the Tee connector / brake limiter if you damage them unscrewing the hose.

Brake pipes can often look worse than they are, give it a good scraping and/or scotch briting & look for pitting and a tendency to bend, rather than spring back, when pressed moderately.
