Right I'll run though the list...

No sidelights,
have main lights,
No Highbeam lights apart from one.

Not sure about the rear forgot to look, before putting back into the garage!
Also no dash lights... (or very dim) Swich has been changed to a new one, and all fuses are fine, and clean!

Also when engine is on, and hazards are on, the rev counter goes in time with th ehazards....

Hazards on, rev counter dies
Hazards off, rev counter is fine... and so on...
Also I have no idcaters... bulbs are fine, and changed just in case!

Other than that everything else seems to be ok

Any ideas?

Has it always done that? Ever since i installed a couple amps in my escort  the rev counter goes in time with the bass now!! Quite funny...

Have you checked fuses? Also, the lights have that nasty connection up near the grill, id have a look-see at that if i was you, can go a bit pete tong, specially when you get some water up there.

Front body main earth point. Dismantle, clean all the terminals and check them for security and broken cable cores and re-fit then smear the whole stack in Vaseline.

It's on the engine bay crossmember reinforcing plate, just by the master cylinders in a RHD car.

Also check the engine earth and your headlamp bulbs.

Sounds like a short circuit somewhere?

The only problem I had with my Mini was it kept blowing a fuse everytime you switched the ignition on, so you'd end up with no wipers and stuff. We initially remedied it by removing the spade connector connection for the rev. counter, well I lost that but at least my wipers would work then.

Anyway turned out it was due to a faulty wiper park-switch (well the wipers had stopped parking themselves for some time), as that's on the same circuit (related somewhere) as the rev. counter and they were interfering with each other. But once I replaced the wiper park-switch and then re-connected the rev. counter spade connector on to the fuse box, I then got wipers that parked and a working rev. counter again too!

So yes the electrics can be a bloody pain, but look out for that particular little problem too everyone, if your wipers stop parking anyway. Oh and if you don't have a rev. counter it can do other strange things, well on my sisters 92' Mini British Open Classic LE, when her wipers stopped parking themselves, soon after her fuel gauge used to read maximum all the time, unless you sprayed WD40 behind her wiper motor and @ the park-switch, which would make the fuel gauge read properly again temporarily. Again that was sorted once the switch was replaced!
