Hi Everyone,

I am a complete newbie... in fact I don't even own a Mini. But I have plans...
Primarily I have joined this forum for help and advice, as my name suggests, I am a Brit living abroad, not too far away, but they don't always speak English here. I am planning to buy a Mini, a runner, but I want to be prepared with lots of good advice before I start viewing potential purchases.

So my journey starts here, hopefully within a few months I'll own a LHD Mini, and using it mainly for recreational driving, and it will be brilliant to drive a classic British icon here.

I lived in Sweden for a few years. Where abouts are you? And my Swedish isn't that good, but I can do the basics!

pikey7 - I live near Trollhättan (NE of Gothenburg), where they make all the Saabs... been here for a year, probably for good.

Jag kann svenska, men inte så mycket.

Right, now to scan blocket.se (the Swedish eBay is awful) for some fine examples....

Oh my good lord! Do you live in Butlers then? Most of us did! Swania on a Friday night afterwork too... Scary place!

I was only in Trollywood for a short time, I was mostly in Gothenburg. Much more choice! I did enjoy the Trollers waterfall festival though. Far too much of a good time when that was on!

Check mobile.de aswell. It's only a short ride to get them, and they are much cheaper than Swedish prices! Theres another Swedish site too, but the name escapes me. It'll come to me eventually!

Straying off topic, but what are the odds? Someone in the UK Mini community living here for a while???

Small anecdote for you... I was in the 'Irish' Corner in Trollhättan, limbering up my swedish on the barmaid... took me three hours to realise she was from Swansea! Doh.

hehe! It would be quite large odds, but I've been abroad for 12 years myself (come back for a rest). I guess it just goes to prove that you can be a mini fan no matter where you are!

Why oh why were you "practising" swedish on barmaids? I know they've probably heard it all before in Trollers, but for god sake..... you get more if you DON'T know the lingo! (or at least use it. It's always nice to listen..... ) 9 for effort, 10 for stupidity!
